Mash-Up Monday : Magic Club President - Rolling in the Gaudy side of town ( Adele vs Gayngs )

Mellow-Mash makes me something something...

As of late, Adele has become the 'Chuck Norris Jokes' of the music world; over-exposed, over-played, and over-mixed to the point where her talent has lost all credibility. She has become the new Kid Cudi, in which she is so popular that no matter what you mix it with people will enjoy it. Magic Club President has completely restored Adele's exceptional skill by mashing it with up-and-comer artist - Gayngs.  Unleashing a song that is both simultaneously mellow and powerful.

I was not able to find out a lot of information on  wonder-mash-kid Magic Club President. However, his talent is evident when he combines Adele's enchanting vocals from 'Rolling in the Deep to compliment the low-fi saxophones and heavy reverb of Gayngs - Gaudy Side of Town. This powerful combination results in a song evoking imagery of passionate kisses in the rain, beautiful-bitterness, and remorseful love.

Funk Friday : Poolside - Do You Believe

Encapsulation of  summer nights
Poolside - Do You Believe
This LA based band are creating nu-disco that perfectly fits their name...poolside. Since I first heard it, all I can think about is having this playing while laying on the beach. The track reminds me of warm summer nights at backyard parties with hanging lantern lights and the pretty hipster girl across the way with big brown eyes.  Funking licked bass lines and simplistic piano riff create an escape to disco-summer-bliss where the beers are always cold and the naivety of summer flings will last forever. Where the gentle caress of tanned skin melts away all worries.

Hip-Hop Hump Day : Wiz Khalifa - Young, Wild and Free ( feat Snoop Dogg )

So what...

Wiz collabs with Snoop D-oh-double-G, again, making a misguided youth anthem. Relaxed flow about partying, smoking joints and not giving a fuck. With the exception to 'This Plane' and 'The Thrill', I am by no means a Wiz Khalifia fan. Having said that there is something about 'Young, Wild and Free' that screams summer jam. Whether its the chill-laid-back piano riff, the light airy shakers or the ever-so relatable lyrics its destined to get stuck in your head.
So, chill on the stoop, the back porch or the beach with this bangin' and your bound to have a good summer.

Chillax Trax : Aloe Blacc - Billie Jean

The 2nd coming of soul...

Aloe Blacc instantaneously engrossed me when I first heard his soulful track 'I need a dollar' on the hit HBO show "How To make it in America" . Soon after, I found myself scouring the internet for any and all information I could find about him. I stumbled across this, a beautiful rendition of Micheal Jackson's "Billie Jean". It's certainly an interesting take, the way he's stripped down the original embodiment to the basics, only leaving the soul. A slow walking bass-line, minimalist drum usage and Aloe Blacc's ardent vocals have created a cover that will stop you in your tracks

Hip-Hop Hump Day : Childish Gamibno - My Shine

Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has done it again. His EP dropped a few days ago and really goes to show how taleneted this young artist is. From his witty puns and metaphors to clever use of double entrundres, Donald certianly shows us how creative he is. Childish Gambino even manages to test his vocal range a few times and crushes that too.

MashUp Monday : The Friendly Giant - Hands Up High ( Taio Cruz-Higher vs Waka Flocka Flame-No Hands )

Pure, flawless swag from  younger masher -  The Friendly Giant. The ironic thing about up and coming mash artist 'The Friendly Giant' is that if he was booked to play a club, he wouldn't get in...not even in Canada. Based out of Los Angles, TFG is only 17 and certainly posses a fair amount of talent, clearly noticeable in his most recent track. Which features Taio Cruz - Higher vs. Waka Flocka Flame - No Hands, titled "Hands Up High".

Artist of the Month : Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All ( OFWGKTA )

Peeling the veneer of depravity and iniquity

"   This is what the devil plays before he goes to sleep
Some food for thought some food for death,
go 'head and fuckin' eat...
Odd Future is children that's fucked up on they mental
Simple but probably not, fuck em'  "
Odd Future - Sandwitches
When a lyrical focal point is based upon rape, murder and a deep hatred towards religion, your bound to ostracize a few listeners. However, if you can get over the offensive on a personal level, and analyze the music  subjectively, as a pure art form - brilliance.  Despite the depravity of the lyrics it is flawlessly swag.

Odd future is led and created by 'Tyler, the Creator' but accompanied many others : Hodgy beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Mellowhype, The Jet Age of Tomorrow and Mike G ( the rappers of the group ); singer : Frank Ocean, and producers : Left Brain, The Super 3,  and Syd the Kyd.

When the medium age of the group is under 20, you know that the potential, and longevity of this group is infinite. The production talent this group process is phenomenal, their ability to parallel the emotion of the song into the music is fantastic.  Don't judge the music based on the lyrical context but the art conveyed. Tyler has said it best...
"And we don't fuckin' make horrorcore, you fuckin' idiots
Listen deeper than the music before you put it in a box"

Chillax Trax : Zero Cult - Where Rivers Have No Name

Chilled Out Soundscape

This relatively indie artist, based out Israel captures the soul and mind by creating eloquent sound-scapes. A beautfiul piece of music filled with heavy-panned reverb chords with an angelic strings and vocals atop. The lo-fi piano riff is absolutely soul captivating.  Put on a pair of headphone, lay down, and be transported to pure eargasmic bliss.

White Panda - Pandamonium

The cause of my soon to be alcoholism....
Pandamonium
Full Album :

If your not drunk right now...you soon will be, this album will make you take endless shots. The White Panda have created the perfect party mix from start to finish. With artists that range from Lupe to Haddaway to Stereo Love to Gorillaz, there is something everyone and anyone will enjoy.  The only downside I have to say about the album is that some tracks are limited at 0:40 secs long.  This album is best heard from start to finish, but my god...what a banger

Here are some stand-outs.
