Funk Friday : WebQueawry - Searching

Fan-Funking-Tastic

Nothing gets me weaker in the knees than french-disco-house.  WebQuearwry also known as Martijn Poulus has been recently signed to new record label - Slow Network. His  first single, 'Searching' , is a absolute phenom. Martin has created a song that is reminiscienet of Bang-Alter, Fred Falke, and Alan braxe the way the bass licks, 90s house synth chords and a mid 80s sampled vocal, play off each other. Keep an eye on this kid, he may pave the way for French House 2.0.

Hip-Hop Hump Day : Childish Gambino - Freaks and Geeks

Like a can and a half.....

Most of you will know Childish Gambino as Donald Glover; star of Derrek Comedy,  writer for 30 rock ( basically created the Tracy Morgan character ), and now steals the show weekly on Community.  ( The sketches post credits of Community are always the best parts ).

I have huge respect for someone who can cross media fields with supreme talent like he does. He separates his personal life and implements it into his musical career which can easily be detected with his poignant lyrics, witty rhymes and self produced beats.

V-Day Music

Today is valentines day, which means some of us are having a candlelit dinner for two, a romantic stroll on the beach, a cute pinic. Or , you belong to group B in which you are at home with a bucket of ice-cream watching the note book or masturbating your tears as lubricant.

For those who are lucky enough to get laid tonight, here is a list of songs that will get them in the mood;

Artist of the Month : Star Slinger

In the words of Mr. Ice Cube "Today was a good day", reasoning being, I have found my new addiction. His name is Star Slinger and he is a UK based bedroom producer by the name of Darren Williams.

Darren, manages to mix 90's Hip-Hop beats with old soul, funk, RnB samples that even the most obscure hipster would not be aware of. With the subtle glitch overlays or, a simple disco riff, Star Slinger manages to create tracks with instantaneous inducing head-nodding. He has also been reveled for his amazing remixs that range from Broken Social Scene, to Deerhunter to The Go! Team.

Killer Remix - Love the gun breakdown to gun shots

Broken Social Scene - Texico Bitches (Star Slinger Remix)

Something a little more mellow
Star Slinger - May I Walk With You?

The panning production on this is unbelievable...
Star Slinger - Copulate

Something that would make Berry White blush...If you put this on and don't get laid, I'd grab a jacket because hell froze over.

Beast of the weeK : Lupe Fiasco - Words I Never Said feat. Skylar Grey

Hip-Hop is back.

Lupe Fiasco dropped his second single from Lasers, his up coming album, last night and it does not disappoint. He spits some pretty controversial lines in this track, that range from addressing 9/11 to several references to the lacking Obama administration. Lupe is fantastically complimented by Skylar Grey who sings the chorus in a near haunting way because of its juxtaposition to the underlying instrumental.

Beast of the weeK : Robyn - Indestructible ( Laidback Luke Club-Mix)

I apologize for my absenteeism, for I have been occupied with other matters and have not had a chance to blog at all. But I digress from the matter at hand...banging tracks.

Recommended Dosage :
Before / During / After the Club.

Anyone female or soft guy contemplating writing break-up poetry will dig the lyrics, myself not so much. Its full of all that women's lib garbage, that seems to have caught on so well, and "I am a women, hear me roar" non-sense. Having said that, it does not take away from the insanely sick break downs, heavy bass or high powered synths. If I ever hear this at the bar, it will induce a copious amount of shot to be taken...so in advance, I'm sorry liver.

Artist of the Month : The Knocks

The Knocks are a New York based duo comprised of Ben Ruttner and James Patterson, whom have have have a soft spot for making poppy Nu-Disco. And much like a baby who has had their soft spot hit, it has left me breathless and incapacitated. They are currently in production of a full album that is destined to be filled with dance-summer-pop anthems, that I eagerly await. These new-comers are a must watch, and i guarantee that you will soon hear these kids the clubs.
